DERMAL FILLERS are an injectable gel used as a method of getting rid of smile lines, marionettes, and nasolabial folds, and improving the shape of your jawline, cheek, nose, and chin. They are also called injectable implants, injection fillers, lip and facial fillers, or wrinkle fillers. They can be used if you’d like to contour or increase the volume of specific facial areas such as the lips, cheeks, and chin.
Injection fillers can be made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-occuring substance in our bodies and so can be absorbed by our bodies through time. Other common substances that make up dermal fillers include calcium hydroxylapatite, polyalkylimide, and polylactic acid. They are good for improving moderate to severe wrinkles on the face, hands, and skin folds.
As we age, our skin gradually loses its elasticity due to reduced collagen and elastin. Dermal fillers are injected into your skin where they help increase your skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid and collagen production. Because of the boost in these natural substances, your skin is revitalized and becomes plumper, improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
There are many injectable implants available today. You may be familiar with the names of these different types of dermal fillers that we offer:
Dermal fillers are considered safe, and they are approved for use on adults 22 years and older by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. For our patients’ protection, we at Sage Dental NJ and NJImplantDOC™ and Spa, only use FDA-approved dermal fillers and we ensure the authenticity of all of our products.
However, as with any substance and medical procedure, it is still important to remember that there can be risks and side effects to the individual, so it’s best to consult with the doctor for any considerations.
Since there are a variety of products available to assist with these procedures and it depends on each individual patient, we encourage a consultation visit to be evaluated properly and to discuss your options.

Botox and dermal fillers are medical procedures that are used for cosmetic purposes such as reducing different signs of aging. Botox (botulinum toxin) is primarily used to smoothen wrinkles that are caused by the movement of our facial muscles (such as smiling, frowning, and other facial expressions). It achieves this by relaxing our muscles and preventing them from contracting so the appearance of wrinkles is greatly improved. Botox is usually used for patients who would want to treat their wrinkles and fine lines in the upper face like the forehead, crow’s feet, and eyebrows.
On the other hand, dermal fillers use substances like hyaluronic acid, which are injected just beneath the skin and can help to contour and add volume to the facial area, as well as for the treatment of wrinkles usually around the lips and cheek areas.
Since Botox and dermal fillers use different kinds of formulas, they can be used in combination with one treatment. By booking a consultation with Dr. Avi Israeli, you can discuss the expectations that you have so he can explain in detail the different treatment options or injectables that are best for you.

Results are different for each individual patient. Dermal fillers can last from months to years depending on the patient, the body area where it was injected, and the material used for the injectable, but they are temporary and so you would need to see the doctor in order to maintain the effects.
